Bloom While You Work

Biannual orientation seminar for newcomers
working in France

Whether you were just transferred or have been working in France for a year, some of the cultural differences and business practices you may encounter can be puzzling. This is particularly true for people from an Anglo-Saxon professional background, but learning to deal with these situations is an enriching personal experience that can be applied throughout one's career.
The goal of BLOOM WHILE YOU WORK is to shed some light about these differences in both work and daily life, thus improving your awareness and understanding of French culture. The seminar's speakers are all professionals whose work puts them in constant contact with expats, making them particularly well versed in these issues.
Open to both men and women who are currently working in France, this all-day (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) Saturday seminar provides insight into inter-cultural communications, the French corporate environment, visas, taxes, and adjusting your service expectations (at work and beyond). It also covers life "outside" the office, such as French healthcare, sports, culture, etc., and is followed by a "pub hour" to encourage networking among the participants.

"Run, don't walk... I'd spent more than a year in Paris over a 15-year period before attending Bloom While You Work. And I haven't stopped recommending it since! "Bloom" provides what every Anglophone needs to facilitate life in Paris: resources. Whether written or verbal, legal, medical, or social, you'll leave this invaluable program equipped with survival essentials. It's a GREAT reality check for all the times you've asked yourself, "It is just me, or...?"
