I’m a volunteer of Maranatha Project, an Indonesian self-help group in Jakarta, Indonesia,
by selling their products (which include greeting cards, aprons, necklaces and a variety
of bags & pouches) ranging from 5€ to 25€. Selling prices are “exfactory”
Jakarta prices, with no further mark-up for profit, freight, etc and 100% of the sale
will benefit the Indonesian families in this Project.
Each product is handmade and unique because of the different fabrics used.
The
product poster (pdf) shows a selection of products available.
Maranatha is a non-profit, non-government, community project in Jakarta, Indonesia,
which since 1986 has been assisting poor women and their families by.......
 |
....Creating jobs and teaching skills to these women
through the production of greeting cards decorated with Indonesian batik. Over
the years, the product line has been expanded to include batik necklaces, shopping
bags and travel, tissue & jewellery pouches. This provides the families a small
but steady income to meet their daily basic needs. |
 |
......Improving the housing and living conditions of
these women and their families in some of North Jakarta’s poorest areas. Shabby
shelters, poorly constructed and poorly ventilated houses, cramped living quarters,
constantly flooded and swampy surroundings are conditions that these poor people
have to live in. |
 |
.......Providing medical and health care to the sick
and needy. As a result of their living conditions, lack of income and poor diet,
many suffer from diarrhea, intestinal worms, skin diseases, tuberculosis, respiratory
tract-infection, dengue fever and malaria. Maranatha assists, whenever possible,
with medical treatment, immunity programs and accident relief. |
 |
.....Providing sponsorship for the education and vocational
training of the children who would otherwise dropout from school. This
separate funding from individuals and corporations will ensure that all school-going
aged children have the opportunity to go to school. Maranatha aims to provide
education to the children at all levels and to give them the opportunity to acquire
skills which will equip them for future employment. |
